A man killed his father and uncle by hitting them with a rod on Saturday under Mailardevpally police station limits in Rangareddy, said police. A property dispute was the reason for the double murder, the police said. The victims have been identified as Lakshminarayana (52) and his brother-in-law Srinivasulu. A woman died after she was allegedly thrown off the third floor of a building by her husband following an argument, police said on Saturday. The accused, Vikas Kumar, has been arrested, they said. The incident took place on Friday night in the Govindpuram area, according to police. Vikas Kumar, a parking contractor, reached home in an inebriated condition and had a heated argument with his wife Shalu, who was in her late 30s, police said. "After throwing her off the third floor, he took her to the district hospital where doctors declared her dead," said Assistant Commissioner of Police Abhishek Srivastav. Vikas Kumar reportedly fled from the hospital when the doctors asked the staff to inform the police. He was arrested a few hours later, police said. An unknown person broke into a jewellery store in southeast Delhi's Shaheen Bagh by drilling a hole into an adjacent shop and decamped with ornaments weighing about a kilogram, police said on Saturday. Owner Shadab discovered his store was broken into Saturday morning when he opened it. Shadab, who has been running the shop since 2002, told PTI that he lost about 1 kg of jewellery in the theft. "We have provided CCTV footage which shows the suspect. He entered my shop from an adjacent bakery around midnight with a gas cutter and other equipment in his hands," he said. The CEO of a private company has been booked for allegedly raping an NRI woman who worked at his office, the police said on Sunday. According to the police, the incident took place on September 14, 2023 at a five-star hotel in Chanakyapuri district. Based on a complaint from the Indian-origin US citizen on Saturday night, an FIR has been filed against the accused under Section 376 (rape) of the Indian Penal Code at Chanakyapuri police station, they added. A 35-year-old manager of a private bank was strangled to death allegedly by her boyfriend at a hotel in Navi Mumbai on suspicion that she was having an affair with another man, police said on Tuesday. Based on a tip-off, the Mumbai Police arrested the accused, Shoeb Sheikh (24), from his house in suburban Saki Naka in the early hours of the day before he could flee to his hometown in Uttar Pradesh, an official said. On interrogation, the accused revealed that he had checked into a hotel in Navi Mumbai with his girlfriend Amy alias Amit Ravindra Kaur (35) on Monday, he said. Delhi's Directorate of Education Saturday night withdrew an order extending winter vacation in schools in the national capital, officials said. Earlier on Saturday, the directorate stated that the winter vacation in all government and private schools in the national capital has been extended till January 10 due to cold weather conditions. A Delhi government official said that there was some error in the order. "The order extending winter break was incorrectly issued. The order has been withdrawn immediately. Decision on the same will be taken tomorrow morning," the official said. The vacation is scheduled to end on Saturday and classes are to resume Monday. A couple in their 40s was found dead here on Thursday morning with burnt-out firewood beneath a pot of non-veg curry nearby in their room, police said. The incident took place under the Kishorepura police station area in a marriage garden where the man worked as a guard. The couple was most likely suffocated to death due to smoke in the unventilated room, police said. The couple was identified as Laxman Koli (45) and his wife Chanda (40). They had been living in Kota for the last 20 years and the man was working as a guard in the marriage garden in the Banjara Colony. A 47-year-old man died due to the injuries that he sustained after jumping out of a moving police van early Wednesday, a senior officer said. The victim, identified as Pramod, was rushed to four different government hospitals by the police personnel due to the unavailability of beds or equipment at the hospitals, he added. The failure to get admission at any hospital resulted in his death at 5.45 am, police said. A man in Pune stabbed his 16-year-old daughter to death after the two fought over his drinking habit, an official said on Wednesday. Wagholi resident Fakira Dupargude, aged about 45, would often consume alcohol and have arguments with his wife, son and daughter Akshada. "On Wednesday, when Akshada's mother and brother were not at home, she had a dispute with her father over his drinking issue. In a fit of rage, the accused attacked her with a sharp weapon and fled away," said a crime branch official. Neighbours rushed the teenager to a hospital but she could not be saved. A three-year-old girl was crushed to death by a speeding tempo in Basai enclave colony while she was playing outside her house, police said on Tuesday. A 36-year-old woman was arrested for allegedly killing her mother over a property dispute in outer Delhi's Ranhola area, police said on Sunday. The accused, Promila, works as a teacher and was living with her father, who had separated from her mother Beermati (65), they said. An Uzbek national was robbed of 16,000 US dollars by a gang of fake cops in Gurugram's Sector 53, police said on Monday. Sobiroy Botir, a native of Uzbekistan, is in Gurugram with his two brothers to undergo a kidney transplant at Artemis Hospital, said police. Five people were killed and two others suffered injuries in a road accident in Narayanpet district of Telangana on Sunday, police said. Two cars rammed into each other on the highway near Maktal in the district on Sunday evening, they said. One of the cars appeared to have tried to overtake another vehicle but crashed into a car coming from the opposite direction, they said. The Mumbai police have banned the flying of drones, remote-controlled microlight aircraft, paragliders, para motors, hand gliders and hot air balloons over the city for 30 days, an official said on Wednesday. The prohibitory order, which will be in force from December 20, 2023, to January 18, 2024, was issued under section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), the police said. According to the order, it is likely that terrorist or anti-national elements might make use of drones, remote-controlled microlight aircraft, and paragliders to target VVIPs and endanger the life of the public at large, destroy public property and disturb law and order in the metropolis. The order comes days ahead of Christmas and New Year celebrations that draw large crowds across the city.
